Borniet, also known as Peacock Ore or peacock stone, is a striking copper-iron sulphide renowned for its brilliant metallic lustre and iridescent colours.
Natural oxidation creates the characteristic rainbow-like lustre from which the mineral derives its nickname. No two pieces are exactly the same, giving each stone a unique appearance.
