Species: Papilio thoas cinyras
Origin: Peru
The Papilio thoas cinyras is a tropical butterfly with a powerful colour contrast. The upper surface of its wings is deep black with bright yellow bands and spots - a striking pattern that makes it stand out well in nature as well as in an interior. The hind wings have a tail-shaped tip, typical of many species within the genus Papilio.
The underside of the wings is slightly lighter in hue, with a mix of brown, yellow and orange highlights. This makes the butterfly visually interesting even when at rest.
